Bilingual (Chinese and English)

3. Exam Structure

4. Scoring Rules

Note: Both the AMC 10 and AMC 12 come in two different versions: A and B. You may take two different versions across the AMC 10 and AMC 12 exams, but you cannot take the same version twice. Therefore, you could take the AMC 10A and 10B, or the AMC 10A and 12B; however, you cannot take the AMC 10A and 12A. This is because problems from the AMC 10 are frequently reused in the corresponding version of the AMC 12 exam.

If you are concerned about whether you possess the necessary mathematical skills, please do not worry! The AMC 12 tests only standard high school mathematics—such as algebra, geometry, and so forth. No knowledge of calculus is required.

7. Reporting Allegations of Cheating or Suspicious Behavior

The MAA AMC office takes all instances of disqualification, allegations of cheating, and suspicious behavior very seriously, and requires that such reports be submitted to AMCHQ@maa.org.

It is crucial that such allegations be substantiated by facts or supporting documentation. If a Competition Manager receives an allegation or obtains circumstantial evidence of cheating, the Manager must immediately report all such evidence to the MAA AMC office at AMCHQ@maa.org. If the MAA AMC office determines that rules and procedures were not adhered to, it reserves the right to disqualify the scores in question.

8. Students Disqualified from Competition

If a student is found to have cheated on the AMC 8 or AMC 10/12, they will be disqualified from participating in any remaining competitions for that cycle. If a second such infraction occurs, the student will be permanently removed from the MAA competition program and barred from participating in any future competitions.

If a student is found to have cheated on competitions such as the AIME, USAMO, or USAJMO, they will be disqualified from participating in any remaining competitions for that cycle and barred from participating in any future competitions.

In both scenarios, all scores will be immediately expunged from the MAA competition historical records, and the student will be ineligible to receive any awards.
